This certification is awarded to health institutions after a rigorous evaluation of standards, where the goal is the integration of actions and the implementation of processes in a sustainable manner with a systemic perspective, and to improve the quality of health care services and the security provided to patients. LIMARP joins a small number of hospitals in Tijuana and Baja California that have earned this distinction.

At the national level, only 5% of hospitals are in the process of certifying the quality of their services, a process that allows them to make an objective assessment of their practices and obtain a diagnosis of their shortcomings and areas of opportunity. LIMARP is one of the first centers specializing in bariatric surgery to receive this certification.

Currently, this certification is requested voluntarily by hospitals to the General Health Council, in order to test and verify that they meet the highest standards of quality, for the benefit of their patients.

Hospital certifications, both national and international, allow health centers to detect and correct their internal processes; selection and training of their personnel and protocols used in their daily work, which then allows them to effectively state that they work with the highest international standards.

2

In a hospital’s daily activities, certifications promote the sustainability of a culture of continuous improvement which puts patients and their safety first.

The standardization of protocols that a hospital must complete to aspire to the certification is conducive to a reduction in mistakes and encourages the creation of mechanisms to detect them before they happen; opening up opportunities so they can be corrected in a timely manner and before any harm comes to the patient.

During its evaluation process, LIMARP received different expert auditors from the General Council of Health, who assessed their policies, processes, systems, indicators and results; paying particular attention to safety and quality of care.

This certification is the most recent one in LIMARP’s list, which includes the International Center of Excellence certification, granted in 2012 and confirmed in 2016 by Surgical Review Coproration; Dr. Liza Ma. Pompa’s own certification as Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence issued by the same organization; LIMARP’s recent first place as a Leading Clinic in Bariatric Surgery by Leading Medical Clinics of the World and all the medical, bariatric and surgical associations that Dr. Pompa and LIMARP belong to. The next goal is to obtain the Joint Commission certification.

For LIMARP, the real goal when seeking these certifications is to give patients the confidence that they truly are in the best hands possible to have their bariatric surgery.
