Since its foundation LIMARP has been committed to helping people from all over the world in their fight against obesity and to the creation of personalized weight loss programs that ensure satisfactory results to each of our patients. Our commitment surpasses that of weight loss surgery and also includes plastic surgery for the bariatric patient. Our unwavering patient commitment, along with a team of highly trained professionals and our state of the art facilities, has granted us several international recognitions and an upstanding reputation among the medical community across the Americas.
In 2009 we decided to bring our mission and commitment to Canada with the purpose of helping Canadians suffering from obesity overcome their health issues; to accomplish this goal we teamed with a company called WLF (Weight Loss Forever), aka WLF Medical, who proved to share our values and mission at the time. Our venture was a simple one: WLF would promote our bariatric and plastic surgery programs, book appointments and supposedly take care of the follow-up phase; LIMARP would perform the surgeries and provide complete and multidisciplinary medical care. WLF served as an external agent for LIMARP and nothing more, they where in no way involved with medical board, surgical treatments or decisions.
This venture was successful for many years, primarily due to the prestige and worldwide recognition of our founder Liza Maria Pompa FACS, and their team. At LIMARP we pride ourselves in having assisted many Canadian patients in their fight against obesity and in their journey towards a healthy lifestyle. Those patients have become our friends and our inspiration thanks to the many years in which we have teamed up against obesity.
Last week WLF informed us that they were forced to close their business due to a tax dispute with the Canadian Revenue Agency and that they were no longer capable of sustaining our business relationship.
The news was a shock to both our team and patients because WLF’s closing procedure was performed in such a disorganized and unconventional way, that it has already generated unnecessary risks for patients already traveling to Mexico to have surgery not knowing that WLF transferred their contracts to a new company (ESA Health) and that they had substituted surgeon and hospital facilities under misguided arguments.
After investigating, it has come to our attention that:
1) WLF and/or ESA Health have been calling our patients telling them that LIMARP had to cancel their surgery and, hence, they had to reschedule the procedure with another surgeon at another facility. THIS IS FALSE; LIMARP has standing surgical dates for all patients that were preapproved for surgery by our team, which is ready and able to assist them in any way, shape or form.
2) WLF and/or ESA Health have lead many patients to believe that their supposedly scheduled surgery at LIMARP (to be performed Dr. Liza Maria Pompa) had to be rescheduled, moved to a different facility and performed by other surgeons; this also entailed a change in the original contract the patient had signed. Some of the new contracts offered to patients described the changes mentioned above, but they either went unnoticed by our trusting patients or where not explained further. According to Mexican Law THIS MAY WELL CONSTITUTE A CRIME, as they are misguiding and endangering the life of the patient.
3) WLF and/or ESA Health have contacted LIMARP supposedly on behalf of our patients to cancel their surgeries for different reasons spanning from work related issues to family members being ill. ALL REASONS GIVEN TO US BY WLF and/or ESA Health TO CANCEL PATIENT SURGERIES HAVE BEEN PROVEN FALSE. We have checked with those patients personally and they have assured us that they never cancelled their surgeries and that the reason they had rescheduled them at another facility was that WLF informed them that LIMARP had cancelled their procedures, WHICH IS ALSO COMPLETELY FALSE.
These unfortunate events, seem to point to a dishonest strategy by WLF and/or ESA Health, with the distinct purpose of redirecting LIMARP patients by misguiding and lying to them, while showing no regard for the trust that those patients had deposited upon LIMARP, Dr. Liza Maria Pompa.
At LIMARP, we want to make it clear that we have not cancelled procedures for any of our preapproved patients; if you were planning to visit either Dr. Liza Maria Pompa for surgery and have been misguided into believing that we are unable to honor our commitment, be assured that your procedure is scheduled and that the staff of our International Center of Excellence in Obesity is ready to provide you with the best medical care available anywhere.
Furthermore, if you signed a contract with WLF to have surgery with us and were later asked, convinced or pressured into rescheduling your surgery at another facility and with another surgeon, please be aware that neither LIMARP nor Drs. Pompa have authorized, endorsed or approved such changes on any booked surgeries; also, know that neither LIMARP nor Drs. Pompa will be liable for any injury, harm, hazard or damage derived from medical care received elsewhere or from medical tourism logistical planning done by any other party.
If you were convinced to reschedule at another facility, we recommend that you investigate further and verify the credentials of those to be involved in your surgery.
We must remember that the doctor-patient relationship is an intimate one that should always be based on trust; no one should ever interfere or take advantage of it for personal or corporate gain.
Every LIMARP patient from anywhere in the world can always contact us directly.
Sincerly yours,
LIMARP INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR OBESITY
Dr. Liza María Pompa González
